Our Silicon Avalanche Photodiodes set new standards in the detection of extremely weak light signals and single-photon counting for demanding applications.

They are designed for a broad spectral range from 400 nm to 1100 nm and are ideally suited for use in quantum optics as well as modern photonic systems.
Thanks to their specialized avalanche structure, they support both linear operation and Geiger-mode operation for highly sensitive single-photon detection.
The O-SPAD-050-TEC is mounted on an integrated three-stage thermoelectric cooler (TE3), ensuring stable operation at temperatures down to −50 °C. In Geiger mode, even a single photon generates a clearly measurable current pulse. Combined with suitable readout electronics, this enables the reliable detection of even the weakest light signals.
With an active diameter of 50 µm, the device offers an optimal balance between high sensitivity and fast signal processing. For maximum flexibility, the chips are also available as bare die.
