Multi-channel detector series for X-rays
Photodiode arrays compatible with scintillators |
This series consists of 16-element arrays/rows, with the individual elements grouped together and mounted on a PCB. For X-ray or gamma-ray applications, these multi-channel detectors can be mounted to a scintillator: BGO, CdWO₄, or CsI (TI). BGO (bismuth germanate) serves as an ideal energy absorber and is widely accepted in high-energy detection applications. CdWO₄ (cadmium tungstate) provides sufficiently high light output, contributing to improved spectrometry results. CsI (cesium iodide) is another high-energy absorber that offers adequate resistance to mechanical shock and thermal stress. When coupled to a scintillator, these silicon arrays make any medium or high radiation energy visible through the scattering effect. Their specially designed PCB also allows for continuous connection and chaining. Array configurations can be used in situations requiring an extended scale range.
