Photovoltaic series
Planar silicon photodiodes

photovoltaiche series of photovoltaic detectors is used for applications that require high sensitivity and moderate response speeds, with additional sensitivity in the visible blue range for the “blue-enhanced” series. The spectral response range from 350 to 1100 nm makes the photovoltaic devices ideal for applications in the visible IR range and near-IR range. For additional sensitivity in the 350 nm to 550 nm range, the “blue-enhanced” detectors are more suitable. These detectors have high measurement resistance, low noise, and provide long-term stability. Operating these detectors without bias voltage offers stability under wide temperature changes in DC or low-frequency applications. For higher light levels (greater than 10 mW/cm²), detectors from the photoconductive series should be considered for better linearity. The detectors are not designed for reverse bias. A slight improvement in response time can be achieved with a small bias voltage. Using a reverse voltage of more than a few volts (>3V) will permanently damage the detectors. If faster response times are required, the photoconductive series should be considered. Please refer to the photovoltaic operation section in the “Photodiode Characteristics” section of this catalog for more detailed information on electronic configurations.
